Resting in God

Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Do you find yourself feeling uneasy, confused, not enjoying life? I have good news for you today. God has prepared a place of rest for his people.

It is never the Lord's will for us to be weary or burdened down with this worlds affairs. In his word, he says “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Likewise in Hebrews 4:9-10 it states “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works.” This is one of my favorite scriptures because it reminds me that God is in control and it advises me to cease from my works. Allow God to work. Take the heavy burdens off of your shoulders and place them on His. You weren’t meant to carry such a heavy load.

When we try to do what only God can do, we wear ourselves out and become weary, depressed, or anxious. We have one job and that is to allow Him to lead. His plan for your life is where you will find rest.

So today, surrender your heart and your mind to God. Release your will for His will. If you don’t know His will, begin to study His word and develop a lifestyle of prayer that you may gain an understanding of His will for your life. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into that place of rest that only God can give!
